Notes in Your Neighborhood, the newest of the Orlando Philharmonic’s educational offerings, is a free, high-quality after school music program for elementary students in Title 1 schools. The program pairs engaging musical activities with powerful mentor relationships.

On the fifth visit, students are treated to a concert by Orlando Philharmonic musicians, and then watch a slideshow of photos from past sessions while enjoying snacks with a musician mentor.

NIYN was launched in 2010 as a pilot program, introducing underserved students to the world of orchestral instruments. Since then, Notes in Your Neighborhood has taken flight, sparking interest among students to learn more about music, study an instrument, and even enroll in Orange County Public Schools’ free violin courses.
