A holiday tradition with all your festive favorites, a children’s chorus, holiday sing-a-longs and more!

There’s no place like Home for the Holidays to get you in the mood for the coming holiday season.  Bring your family and start a yearly tradition with the Orlando Philharmonic.

Conductor Albert-George Schram returns with his charismatic style. Many of you may remember him from last season’s That’s Amore concert. Schram, a native of the Netherlands, has served as Resident Conductor of the Nashville Symphony since August 2005 and is concurrently Staff Conductor of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. He also holds regular guest-conducting positions with the Tucson Symphony and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.

When the Nashville Symphony opened its state-of-the-art Schermerhorn Symphony Center in 2006, Schram was invited to become the orchestra’s Resident Conductor. While he has conducted on all series the orchestra offers, Schram is primarily responsible for its Bank of America Pops Series.

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes back the Holiday Singers to top off its Home for the Holidays tradition.  The combined sound of these professional vocalists is not by mere coincidence.  Each member lends his or her command of various musical styles that adds flair, power and quality to the group, enabling them to perform many genres of choral music.  The Holiday Singers and their alter ego, The Liberty Singers, have appeared in venues across Florida and the country including conventions and trade shows, Capital One Bowl, Orlando Magic, The Sarasota Orchestra and five US Presidents.  As educators, adjudicators, arrangers, directors and artists, the Holiday Singers’ individual contributions to arts and entertainment are immeasurable.

The Florida Opera Theatre Youth Program under the direction of Robin Jensen is an all encompassing singer/actor training program for young people ages 7-18. The program features the Children’s Opera Chorus and the Apprenti Company. The youth meet twice a week for classes that include music and drama improvisation, acting, music theory, singing techniques and performance skills. The Youth Program is a place for young people who are interested in Classical music and want to perform. Auditions are held twice a year for acceptance into the performing group and classes. Many members of the company have performed with the Orlando Philharmonic’s opera productions of “Carmen” and “La Boheme” and most recently the Philharmonic’s concert of “Verdi e Puccini.”

The concert program  features classics like Let There Be Peace on Earth, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch!, O Holy Night, Silent Night and more, including a couple of sing-a-longs.  Join us for this annual concert tradition!

In the spirit of the season, we ask that you bring a non-perishable food item to help us restock the community food pantry at Second Harvest Food Bank. Help make it a happy holiday for those less fortunate.
