(Orlando, FL – February 25, 2010) –The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Winter Park invite you to celebrate the arrival of spring at their annual outdoor Spring Pops concert on Sunday, March 14, at 7:00 PM in Winter Park’s charming Central Park. This concert is made possible by the Charlotte Julia Hollander Trust and is free and open to the public. Bring a blanket and a picnic and get ready for a delightful concert that is sure to cap off a beautiful spring weekend!
Maestro Dirk Meyer leads the Orlando Philharmonic in a program titled Musical Postcards, featuring music that takes the audience on a journey around the world. Selections include Espana by Ernesto Chabrier, Pavanne from American Symphonette No. 2 by Morton Gould, Salute to the Big Apple arranged by Calvin Custer, Miss Saigon by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and the Overture to Gypsy by Jule Styne.
Soprano Janette Zilioli joins the Philharmonic to perform the beautiful O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi, Je dis que rien ne m’epouvante from Carmen, Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen and I’ll Take Manhattan by Richard Rodgers.
Zilioli is rapidly establishing herself as an up-and-coming star/artist with her exceptional abilities as a talented singing-actress with shimmer and brilliance in her voice.
This past season she has made her debut at Opera Santa Barbara as Hanna in The Merry Widow and returned to Orlando Opera to perform Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus. Ms. Zilioli also recently performed the role of Musetta in La Bohème with Palm Beach Opera, and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with Central Florida Lyric Opera. As a resident in the Orlando Opera Young Artist Program, Ms. Zilioli was heard as Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, the High Priestess in Aida, Pitti-Sing in the Mikado and Blöndchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
