(Orlando, FL – February 17, 2010) – Surf’s Up! The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra proudly presents the orchestra’s most popular concert tradition, the Concert at The Springs – an outdoor concert featuring the Orlando Philharmonic performing on a stage built right on the beautiful body of water known as Sanlando Springs.  Catch a wave with the Orlando Philharmonic as they salute the Beach Boys with great California surf music featuring special guests, Papa Doo Run Run, California’s legendary surf band, at this year’s concert, Good Vibrations at The Springs! The concert event takes place on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at The Springs Community, 400 Woodbridge Road, Longwood. Gates open at 5:00 PM. The concert begins at 8:00 PM.  The Orlando Philharmonic is excited to continue this concert tradition, which has become the orchestra’s most popular concert of the year and a social event not to be missed.  Last year, this event sold out!

Patrons are invited to bring blankets and picnics and enjoy a fabulous evening of music with friends and family. Alcoholic beverages are permitted for patrons 21 and older.  Lawn seating is on a first come first served basis.

Go on a surfin’ safari with the Philharmonic as they pay tribute to the Beach Boys with a fun-filled rock and roll concert.  Special guests Papa Doo Run Run take the stage to perform many of the Beach Boys’ classic hits, in addition to a few of their own!

Principal Pops Conductor Andrew Lane leads the Orlando Philharmonic in this program of music under the stars.  Audiences will enjoy the music of the Beach Boys and classic rock favorites including California Girls, Good Vibrations, Don’t Worry Baby, Help Me Rhonda, I Get Around, and more.

Described as “Sounding more like the Beach Boys than the Beach Boys Do,” Papa Doo Run Run, who formed in 1965, quickly found their forte of California music.  In 1975 their Top 40 hit Be True To Your School hit #1 in California.  Their ground breaking CD “California Project” exploded onto the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at no. 17 and earned the band their second Gold Record and a Grammy Nomination.
