Percussion Fun at Good Vibrations

(Orlando, FL – July 15, 2008) – Join the Orlando Philharmonic percussionists for some Good Vibrations , the final program of the 2008 Sounds of Summer Series! The program takes place on Monday, August 18, 7:00 PM at the Margeson Theater in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando.

At this fun-filled and energetic performance, the percussionists demonstrate that there is a lot more to percussion than one would see in a full orchestral performance. Audiences will enjoy an exuberant program filled with works that represent a variety of musical styles, ranging from jazz and classical to minimalist and contemporary. Included on the program are Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, Anthony Korf’s Blue Rhythm Quintet and Steve Reich’s Music for Pieces of Wood.

Performing on the program are percussionists Carl Rendek, Robert Petta, Mark Goldberg, Chris Nolan and Sam Forrest, along with pianists Anne McLean and Michael Rickman.

Tickets to Good Vibrations are: Level 1 seating: $37 for adults, $33 for seniors and $18.50 for students with valid ID; Level 2 seating: $26 for adults, $23 for seniors and $13 for students with valid ID. To purchase tickets or for more information, phone the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Box Office at 407-770-0071, or visit www.OrlandoPhil.org.
