(Orlando, FL – February 11, 2011) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is the proud recipient of a $10,000 contribution from the Central Florida Hotel Lodging Association (CFHLA).  The money for the gift was raised through the CFHLA’s end of year holiday extravaganza, conducted in partnership with the Peabody Orlando to celebrate the Re-Grand Opening/Expansion of the Hotel and Convention Center.  The gala event, held on December 11 at the Peabody Orlando, featured a performance by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band with Classic Albums Live.

CFHLA President Rich Maladecki says, “CFHLA is proud to serve as a Central Florida community partner.  This $10,000 commitment is a symbol of the hospitality industry ‘Giving Back.’”

“The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra congratulates Alan Villaverde, President, Peabody Hotels Division, and everyone associated with this spectacular renovation and re-imagination of the Peabody Hotel,” says David Schillhammer, Orlando Philharmonic Executive Director.   “It is a tremendous venue that represents Orlando and Central Florida to visitors with the highest class.  We salute Mr. Villaverde not only for his service on the Board of the Orlando Philharmonic, but for his vision to include us, Central Florida’s resident professional orchestra, at this magnificent event.”

Schillhammer continues, “We thank the Central Florida Hotel Lodging Association for its work in implementing one of the most grand galas in Central Florida history.  The orchestra members were proud to perform at this most prestigious event, and we are deeply grateful for the $10,000 philanthropic contribution to our hometown orchestra.”
