(Orlando, FL – June 20, 2011) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2011 Sounds of Summer Series continues with a performance by popular group Sovereign Brass on Monday, July 11, 2011. The concert, titled Passion and Fury, is held at 7:00 PM in the Margeson Theater, located in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando.

With a theme of “Passion and Fury – A Love Story,” the group will perform a number of works about with the trials and tribulations of love.  Works include versions of Romeo and Juliet, Weber’s All I ask of You, Fats Waller’s Ain’t Misbehavin’, Carmichael’s Stardust, Piazzolla’s Libertango, and more.

Created in 1994, Sovereign Brass is an ensemble of six talented Central Florida musicians.  Comprising the Sovereign Brass are Mike Avila and Thomas Macklin, trumpets; Jeffrey Thomas, trombone; Kathleen Thomas, French horn; Ed Firth, tuba; and Mark Goldberg, percussion.  The goal of the Sovereign Brass is to bring the highest quality music to the widest possible audience and to present this music in a way that is entertaining and fun.  Instrumentation of five brass and one percussionist makes Sovereign Brass one of the most versatile ensembles available today.
