(Orlando, FL – September 27, 2010) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra proudly opened its 2010-2011 Season with Mahler’s monumental work Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection,” to a sold-out audience and critical acclaim.

The Orlando Sentinel’s Scott Warfield writes, “…this concert should be remembered as perhaps this orchestra’s best performance of a major work in its 17-year history.”  Warfield continued, “Conducting without a score, (Music Director Christopher) Wilkins asked for and received some of the best ensemble work that one could ever hear.”

“We are extremely proud of our talented and accomplished musicians,” says David Schillhammer, Executive Director.  “Under the leadership of Maestro Christopher Wilkins, the orchestra’s level of musicianship continues to soar to new heights.  And the season has just begun.  We are very thankful for the support of the Central Florida community, and can’t wait to bring our new season of music to life for our dedicated and appreciative audiences!”

The Philharmonic’s season continues with two performances of Frank Loesser’s acclaimed musical Guys and Dolls on October 9, featuring Broadway star Davis Gaines.  For more information on the Orlando Philharmonic’s upcoming season, visit www.OrlandoPhil.org
