(Orlando, FL – February 18, 2011) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra announces the 2011 season of its acclaimed Sounds of Summer Series. This popular chamber music series highlights the musicians of the Philharmonic in five diverse programs. The Sounds of Summer Series takes place in the Margeson Theater in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando. All Sounds of Summer Series concerts are presented on Mondays at 7:00 PM.
Subscriptions to this five-concert series are available in three price levels: Level 1 seating is $160 for adults, $144 for seniors and $80 for students with valid ID. Level 2 seating is $105 for adults, $94.50 for seniors and $52.50 for students with valid ID. Level 3 seating is $70 for adults, seniors and students. Single tickets go on sale Monday, May 23, 2011. Single ticket prices are: Level 1 seating: $37 for adults, $33 for seniors and $18.50 for students with valid ID; Level 2 seating: $26 for adults, $23 for seniors and $13 for students with valid ID; Level 3 seating: $14 for adults, seniors and students. Philharmonic musicians present a stellar program of jazz and baroque.
2. Passion and Fury Monday, July 11, 2011 7:00 PM
Featuring the Sovereign Brass
The Sovereign Brass breathes fresh life into the otherwise serious world of brass and chamber music. Audiences will delight in this emotive and exciting program!
3. Summer Serenades Monday, July 25, 2011 7:00 PM
Featuring the Orlando Philharmonic Woodwinds
The Philharmonic woodwinds, along with special guests, present a beautiful program featuring Mozart Wind Serenades.
4. Hornscapes Monday, August 8, 2011 7:00 PM
Featuring the Orlando Philharmonic Horns
The Orlando Philharmonic Horns, along with a few friends, will treat the audience to an evening of traditional to progressive and from serious to not so serious music for the horn.
5. World Music Monday, August 15, 2011 7:00 PM
Alexander Stevens, violin Mauricio Cespedes Rivero, guitar
These two virtuoso musicians present a program of violin and classical guitar, featuring a variety of styles including Brazilian Jazz, Bossa Nova, and music from around the world.
