INSIGHTS from Conductor Albert George Schram
We can hardly wait to share this program dedicated to great Italian music, both classical and popular, with you.
Of course, we all remember the great Italian tenor Pavarotti and we found the perfect interpreter to sing some of Luciano’s greatest hits. You’ll love Randolph Locke!
Actually, this will be an evening with many star performers. Deana Martin will sing some of her dad Dino’s greatest hits, like “Volare” and “Mambo Italiano,” accompanied by the talented musicians of the Orlando Philharmonic – who are miraculously transformed into a Big Band for this part of the program!
The Humdingers, a barbershop quartet, will harmonize a few real Italian ditties, among which is the immortal “That’s Amore” with those unforgettable lyrics we’ve all sung – When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s Amore!
The greatest star of the evening will be your own Orlando Philharmonic! We will play the music of “The Godfather” and “Carnival of Venice” and music by great Italian composers Verdi and Puccini. The Philharmonic will top things off with Respighi’s fantastic Pines of Rome, an orchestral spectacular with birds and brass sounding from the rafters. It’s guaranteed to blow the roof off the place! Trust me: We’ll all want to go out for some fine pasta and a glass of Chianti after this concert is over.
Arrivederci,
Albert George Schram
