Dedicated to Clara Schumann, Brahms’ Second Serenade is widely considered a warm up to his major symphonic works, as he followed in Beethoven’s footsteps. Soprano Awet Andemicael returns to the stage to sing a collection of Handel Baroque Selections, uniquely programmed for Orlando, that explore the 18th Century European musical depiction of female African characters including Cleopatra and Dido, Queen of Carthage.
