Dedicated to Clara Schumann, Brahms’ Second Serenade is widely considered a warm up to his major symphonic works, as he followed in Beethoven’s footsteps. The fourth movement is arguably one of Brahms’ finest creations and the final fifth movement,is brilliant in its own right, is the only movement to feature a lively piccolo. Soprano Awet Andemicael returns to the stage to sing a collection of Handel Baroque Selections, uniquely programmed for Orlando, that explore the 18th Century European musical depiction of African characters.
