Tenor Benjamin Ruiz brings an international career and a lyric voice of proven range to Opera Orlando this season. With credits spanning Opera San José, The Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and Germany’s Mittelsächsisches Theater, Mr. Ruiz has performed leading roles across the repertoire including Alfredo in La Traviata, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw, Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette, and Beppe in Pagliacci. The recipient of awards from the Duncan Williams Voice Competition, the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and the Alan and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition, Mr. Ruiz holds a master of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he was awarded the Edgar Foster Daniels Scholarship.
