Christopher Barton joined the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra as its Executive Director in August 2016. In this role he is responsible for providing leadership and vision to meet the orchestra’s mission to enrich and inspire the diverse communities of Central Florida through the transformative power of live music.
Prior to moving to Orlando, Chris previously served as the executive director of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. His experience as an arts administrator also includes positions with the College of Arts and Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
Chris received a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and a Bachelor of Music Industry Studies from the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University in his home state of North Carolina.
Chris and his wife Angela and their two children, Olivia and Nicholas, reside in Orlando, near UCF – where they have quickly become Knights fans!
