Musicians
Kalindá from Puerto Rico es Bomba
Kalindá is an Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba ensemble based in Kissimmee, Florida, dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural traditions of Puerto Rico. Led by artistic director Barbara Liz Cepeda, a seventh-generation descendant of the legendary Cepeda Family, the ensemble brings to life Bomba—the island’s oldest musical and dance tradition and one of the most powerful expressions of Afro-Puerto Rican heritage.
For the past five years, Kalindá has operated under Escuela de Bomba y Plena Tata Cepeda, a nonprofit organization committed to educating communities about Afro-Puerto Rican history, music, and culture. Through dynamic performances, workshops, and cultural programming, Kalindá inspires audiences of all ages while honoring the legacy, resilience, and creativity of Puerto Rico’s African ancestors.
