Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Young People’s Concerts

CHILDREN CAN EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF LIVE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC DURING PUBLIC PERFORMANCES OF YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONCERTS 

Tickets are $8 and $6.50 for groups of 20 or more

Public performances of Young People’s Concerts (YPCs), presented by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and sponsored by Orange County Public Schools and the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, will take place at Bob Carr Theater through the month of October.

The 2018 Young People’s Concert, entitled Beyond the Screen features outstanding classical music presented in student’s favorite television shows, movies, and commercials.  Students will love learning how classical music plays a starring role alongside their favorite characters.

Public performances begin on Wednesday, October 10 at noon at the Bob Carr Theater and continue on Wednesday, October 17 at noon (Sensory-Friendly Concert); Friday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. and noon. The concert features well-known composers, including Grieg, Dukas, Stravinsky, Bernstein, and more. In addition to a full orchestra concert, dancers from the Orlando Ballet and local professional singers take the stage alongside the orchestra. Stunning visuals are displayed throughout the performance to reinforce learning and engagement, and the entire presentation is narrated by professional actors.

Presented to more than 70,000 students annually through 33 total concerts, the Young People’s Concerts include performances for 3-5th grade students in Orange County Public Schools; 5th Grade Students from Osceola County at the Osceola County School for the Arts; 5th grade students from Volusia County School Districts, and more than 6,000 students from local public, private, and homeschool groups.

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is supported by United Arts of Central Florida and the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
