Maria Chirinos

Maria Chirinos was born in Coro, Venezuela. She started her musical education in the world-renowned organization “El Sistema”, Maria had an early beginning of her musical career, she was concertmaster of the Falcon Youth Regional Orchestra in her hometown, and she was also concertmaster in 2013 of the National Children’s Orchestra of Venezuela; conducted by Simon Rattle for the Salzburg Festival.

Maria has participated as a soloist with the symphony orchestras of Maracaibo, Lara; Carabobo Youth and Simon Bolivar Orchestra – under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, and Falcon Symphony Orchestra, where she was born and raised. She has been invited to play with the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, to participate in their concert cycle in the following European countries: Sweden, Germany, Portugal, France, England and Turkey. 

In Venezuela, Maria strengthened her musical skills in the Latin-American Violin Academy, where she received lessons from acclaimed teachers: Jose Francisco Del Castillo, Sergio Celis, Mercedes Salazar, Pablo Vasquez, Efrain Lara. 

Maria moved at the age of 16 to the United States to further deepen her abilities as a musician, she studied with professor Sally O’Reilly during her high school years. In Minnesota, Maria attended competitions, where she was awarded honorable mention (Mary West, Schubert Club, Young People’s Concerto Competition), as well as the grand prize (Dakota Valley Symphony, Mankato Symphony)

After High School, Maria received the Woodruff Scholarship to study under the guidance of professor Sergiu Schwartz in the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.

Since arriving to Columbus, Georgia, Maria has participated in music festivals and competitions such as Montecito International Music Festival and won the Laureate position for the Georgia Philharmonic’s Samuel Fordis Concerto Competition, in addition; she has won positions as a section violinist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, LaGrange Symphony Orchestra. 

Maria graduated this past May from her Masters Degree in Music Performance and is currently a member of the Orlando Philharmonic and Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
