Born and native to Orlando, Matt Pieper holds the position of 2nd Trumpet in the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, which he began in 2024. He has also performed with the Jacksonville Symphony, The Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra and Naples Philharmonic. He has performed extensively in different roles with the Walt Disney Company, which currently includes performing with the Candlelight Orchestra at Epcot’s Candlelight Processional. Matt has shared the stage with a diverse group of acclaimed artists such as Yuja Wang, Joyce Yang, Sir Stephen Hough, Megan Hilty and Herman Oliveira and has performed under the baton of a variety of esteemed conductors such as Marin Alsop, Miguel Harth-Bedoya and Giancarlo Guerrero.
As an educator, Matt teaches trumpet at Florida Southern College. He also frequently makes appearances at schools in Florida for guest teaching while managing an active private studio in the Orlando metropolitan area. Matt holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M) degree from the University of Central Florida, and a Master of Music (M.M) from Carnegie Mellon University. His primary teachers include Neal Berntsen, Ben Wright, John Almeida and Jesse Cook. Matt has been a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute, as well as the Fresno Opera and Orchestra Summer Academy.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys running, cooking, craft coffee and trying local breweries and cocktail bars.
