Hobbies/Interests: When I am not playing music, I am encouraging others to find a way to make music through teaching. When I have downtime, I like to explore all of the wonderful places that Florida has to offer.
Maureen May is an accomplished cellist with a distinguished career in the music industry. She is a core member of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and regularly performs with the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park Orchestra. She is also the founder of the Orlando Chamber Symphony, a chamber ensemble that presents select performances and special events throughout Florida.
Throughout her career, Maureen has had the privilege of collaborating with a wide range of renowned artists, including Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Luciano Pavarotti, Christina Aguilera, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Andrea Bocelli, Halle Bailey, Donny Osmond, and Smokey Robinson, among others. In 2017, she was honored to serve as the preparatory conductor for film composer John Williams during his appearance in Orlando.
Maureen is also the founder of the Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony (MAYS), a program committed to fostering musical excellence among young musicians. Her dedication to music education was exemplified by her 18-year tenure at Trinity Preparatory School, where she earned numerous awards for her contributions to the school’s music program.
In her personal life, Maureen enjoys gardening and spending time with her four grandchildren and two cherished cats.
