The Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic is the orchestra’s official volunteer organization, providing opportunities to be a hands-on volunteer, enjoy special events and meet new friends with similar interests. Since their initial meeting in 1996, the Friends have raised nearly $1 million in support of the orchestra. Additionally, they contribute nearly $200,000 per year in in-kind services.
The friends currently boast over 250 members of all ages, backgrounds and interests. For busy professionals who want to be involved but cannot make a volunteer commitment, the Friends’ Young Patrons interest group offers all the same perks of a Friends membership, and special opportunities to network with other young professionals.
The mission of the Friends is to:
- Promote community awareness and appreciation of the Philharmonic
- Provide volunteer support to the Philharmonic staff
- Contribute to the financial strength of the Philharmonic
Members of the Friends can be seen hosting post-concert receptions and special fundraising events, managing the Friends’ Boutique in the lobby before concerts, and assisting with educational programs and special projects. To become involved with the Friends, visit the Friends’ website or visit the Friends’ Facebook page.
