New Board Members Welcomed for the 2024-2025 Season

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (OPO) welcomes several new members to the Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 Season. Their commitment to serving on the OPO Board of Directors will have a lasting and positive impact on the Central Florida arts community.

Juan Camacho


Juan Camacho
Director of Business Law Services, The Orlando Law Group
Juan Camacho graduated from UCF with his B.A. in Political Science, followed by graduating from the California Western School of Law as a J.D. Doctor of Law. He began practicing law in Allentown, Pennsylvania and gained valuable experiences in family law, contract disputes, and commercial litigation. Camacho is currently serving as the Director of Business Law Services at the Orlando Law Group. Juan is active in his community, and volunteers with Federal, Florida and Orange County Bar Associations. 

Robert Carpenter


Robert Carpenter, P.E., P.M.P.
Principal Tuba, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra | Senior Advisor, U.S. Army | Senior Principal System Engineer, General Dynamics Mission Systems
Robert Carpenter currently serves as the Principal Tuba player for the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. He has held the Principal chair since the Orchestra’s inception in 1993. Robert received two bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University: one in Music Performance and another in Electrical Engineering. While at Northwestern, Robert studied with Arnold Jacobs of the Chicago Symphony and performed as a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, and Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra. In addition to a full musical life, Robert is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and also a Certified Modeling and Simulation Professional (CMSP). Robert was a systems engineer for NASA, responsible for Space Shuttle instrumentation systems during launch operations. He is currently an advisor to the U.S. Army, providing management and engineering support for research and development of complex testing capabilities.

David Magana


David Magana
Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs, Universal Orlando Resort
David Magana is the Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs at Universal Destinations & Experiences. Magana will be pulling from a wealth of experience accumulated in the ten years he has worked with Universal Destinations and Experiences. David Magana earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Central Florida, followed by his J.D. in Law from the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law. 

David Poff


David Poff
Consultant / (Retired) Senior Vice President, U.S. Bank
David Poff has amassed considerable expertise during the 40 years of his career as a banker. Poff gained experience as both a successful commercial and corporate banker. Notably, David Poff served as the Senior Vice President to the U.S. Bank in San Francisco. Since retiring, Poff lends his insights consulting on business plans and capital formation.

Shyla Reich


Shyla Reich
Member, Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic | Community Leader
Shyla Reich is a community leader in Winter Springs, Florida. She is a longtime fan of the Orlando Philharmonic and has been a member of the Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic since 2011. She studied at the University of Florida. Reich is also an active donor to the Orlando Museum of Art and is a patron of the arts in Winter Springs and beyond. Shyla Reich was a past president of Florida Executive Women in 1995.

Kathleen Sharman

Chief Financial Officer, The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority
Kathleen M. Sharman is a strategic, results-driven executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience across all transportation sectors (expressway, tolling, parking, transit, and airports) as well as private sector organizations in the solid waste and real estate development industries. Kathleen Sharman earned her B.A. in Accounting from the George Washington University School of Business. Sharman has worked as a Financial Officer across transportation sectors in New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida. She currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Greater Orlando Aviation Authority: Orlando International (MCO) and Executive (ORL) Airports. 

Mary Sherris

Mary Sherris was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at The University of Florida in Political Science and subsequently, her Masters Degree in Urban Planning from the College of Architecture at The University of Florida. Ms. Sherris studied law at the University of Akron where she earned her Juris Doctor and was published in the Akron Law Review. She has lived in Orlando since 1997 where she began her law career. Ms. Sherris is a licensed attorney with the Florida Bar and she is admitted in Federal Court, in the Northern District, Middle District and Southern District of Florida. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Florida Justice Association, the Orange County Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the National Crime Victim Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association.

Jamie Strefeler


Jamie Strefeler
Principal Oboe, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra
Jamie Strefeler currently plays as the Principal Oboe for the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been a member since 2008. In the past, she has held principal oboe positions with The Great Falls Symphony, the American Youth Orchestra, the Debut Orchestra, and the Helena Symphony as well as the second oboe and English horn position with the Tri-Cities Opera Company. Strefeler received her Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College and her Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Southern California. Jamie Strefler has performed as a featured soloist with the Orlando Philharmonic, Great Falls Symphony, and the American Youth Orchestra. Jamie is currently the adjunct instructor of oboe at the University of Central Florida and maintains a private oboe studio of 15 students.

We are so fortunate to have these new board members start with us this 2024-2025 Season! In addition to these new members, we also have several new Board of Directors Officers in leadership including Priscilla Azzolini as President, Lawrence Kellogg as Vice President & President-Elect, Michael L. Moore as Secretary, Deric Milligan as Treasurer, and Melody Lynch as Past President.
